Dr Vuyani Matsha

Dr Vuyani Matsha is interested in the field of mathematics education. Areas of interest include integration of technology in mathematics, mathematical literacy, mathematics through stories and the use of games in the teaching and learning mathematics. He has some experience of working with both qualitative and mixed research methods.
 
Dr Vuyani Matsha's research interests focus on three main areas:
1. Mathematics and Language - He explores the intersection between mathematical concepts and language, particularly in multilingual educational contexts. Mathematical Literacy Education - His work examines approaches to teaching mathematical literacy and improving numeracy skills among students. Use of GeoGebra in Mathematics Education - Dr. Matsha specializes in implementing GeoGebra (a dynamic mathematics software) in teaching and learning mathematics. Notably, he translated the GeoGebra software into isiXhosa (available at www.Geogebra.org ) and has conducted research on the effects of this software on geometry achievement and spatial visualization skills.
