Change the world

Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education has exchange agreements with universities in  Germany, Norway, Sweden and the United States. These agreements afford senior under-graduate students the opportunity to attend class at these institutions and undertake part of their teaching practice at partner schools of these overseas universities.

Students selected for the exchange are required to keep a daily journal of their activities, impressions and experiences.  They are each expected to prepare a detailed research report and to present a comparative presentation to lecturers and peers upon their return. Sharing their experiences and comparing the South African education system with those of other countries allows for the internationalisation of the teacher education qualifications at the NMMU.

Most of the agreements are reciprocal in nature in that they allow for students from partner countries to spend up to six months at the NMMU where they register for teacher education modules and visit local schools.

Read more about studying at the NMMU, the requirements, application process and deadlines at the Office for International Education's website.
